Leonard Alemane
It's really bloody brilliant the way you're standing there, mumbling and squeaking and whatever else it is you fucking call speech. Don't get offended. I genuinely like you. I just think you maybe need a brain implant. Know anything about music? No, no you fucking don't. Next time I ask that question you say you don't or you get broken. Savvy? Look, luv, I'm not the Jester, that means you can trust anything I say. I don't lie. Now. Would you like to hear a sonata? Let's just say, you fucking better.
Name: Leonard Alemane.
Titles: Lord of Arcadia, Prince of Arcadia (former), Maestro of the Orchestra Pit, The Burning Violin.
Rules: The Orchestra Pit.
Height: 5'11". Weight: 126 lbs.
Hair color: Light brown. Eye color: Light green.
Distinguishing marks: Broken nose.
Appearance: Lean, even gaunt, with a roguish smile and an oft-broken nose, Leonard Alemane struts around the Orchestra Pit as if he owned the world. He wears lots of leather, of black and brown, T-shirts with obscene messages on the fronts, and mafioso jewelry. Even after massive changes to his personality, his manner is frenetic and occasionally jumpy, his movements lazy and snake-like, though the life and charm has returned to his green eyes.
Colors: Orange and black.
Symbol: A violin, wreathed in flames, on a black field.
Personality: Although Leonard's outward persona has changed perhaps the most of any among the Council, certain factors remain constant, mostly because he's outgrown the need to pretend to be someone he isn't. He is brilliant, but his brilliance is that of something broken - all sharp edges and jagged points - and while those edges have been dulled and softened, revealing more hints of the oddly boyish and romantic man underneath, certain wounds never fully heal. Leonard's general conversation is rough, esoteric and riddled with profanities and the occasional threat. Unlike ten years ago, however, if Leonard threatens to cut off your ears for insulting music he approves of, he is usually joking. Usually.
Parentage: Sethry and Coral.
Age: A little over 1500.
Known siblings: Prince Arayen (believed half-brothers by their mother), Nadzieja (paternal half-sister), Mary (paternal half-sister, deceased).
Known children: None.
Known agents: Musicians, artists, spies, assassins, gang members. William Valentine, his right hand man and lover, is the most well-known.
Leonard as Parent: It is highly unlikely that Leonard has any biological children. He is homosexual, and does not consider that his successor in the Pit should have to follow his bloodline. If you wish Leonard to be your character's father, you will need to come up with a very good storyline. On the other hand, he might be an adoptive parent, but only to a child with an exceptional talent for music. To a child with such talent, Leonard would be protective, loving and gentle and only show his dark side at rare occasions, when his explosions of profanity and threats of violence might terrify his protege. Hours later, Leonard would return with a kind face and apologies. Life with him of any kind would have been a roller coaster, and music would always be of the utmost importance.
Leonard as Employer: Leonard is a much better employer than he used to be, but he is still a ping pong match, because generally speaking he doesn't give a fuck about the people who serve him, nor does he, in fact, have much of an agenda, so half the time William hired any agents that Leonard supposedly has. Leonard is constantly looking over at someone who is working in his house and asking, "Who the fuck are you again?" Since his employees comprise mostly members of his gang spread across Arcadia, serving him as spies, assassins and thugs, they must all be tough, mean and dedicated. Most have had horrific pasts (as indeed did Leonard). His only other servants are musicians of the most amazing skill, nearly rivalling Leonard in their passion and commitment to the art. These he treats gently and seeks to nurture to their full potential.
Leonard as Friend: It is hard to be Leonard's friend. He wants friends, but he spent the majority of the previous thousand years subject to the whims of his moods and a violence that he couldn't control. In that time, he burned a lot of bridges and closed a lot of doors and there aren't too many people who have been eager to reach out even to the changed version. Also worth noting, as above regarding his employees, Leonard really doesn't like very many people. He has a high standard for those who interest him at all. There are those (especially among the stronger) who can get past this, and find that Leonard is, at the heart, a hurt, lonely and very broken little boy, who is still not sure exactly what it was he did that was so terribly wrong. He loves his brother Arayen, likes Melchior and apparently Gerard, and has offered overtures of friendship to many of the new generation. Leonard despises Sethry and would kill him in a heartbeat were he not convinced that to do so would destroy Arcadia. He hated Magdalene and no doubt hates her living analogue, and he has very little time for Coral.
Leonard Romantically: Leonard prefers other men, and lots of them. He usually has a harem at any given time, who can see to his differing needs. He has no particular type, seeking only people who are stable, committed and strong enough to handle his moods. So far, his most successful relationship has been with his bodyguard and right hand man William Valentine. The two have been together for over fifty years.
