Queen Coral
Free lesson, cupcake. The world isn't a nice place. It's not a safe place. It's not a true or a caring place. A long time ago, when I was younger than you are now, I made the same sort of impulsive mistakes that you're making now and I can tell you that it leads to madness, despair and irreparable loss. Take my advice. Cover your head, trust no one, forgive no slights nor injuries and stick very very close to those you love. Make sure no one can take anything from you that isn't given freely. And if you find yourself against a wall, you break the goddamn thing down.
Name: Coral
Titles: Queen of Arcadia (formerly), Queen of Chaos (formerly), Princess of Amber (never formally acknowledged), Queen of Kashfa, Lady of Begma.
Rules: Nothing, currently.
Height: 5'9" Weight: 121 lbs.
Hair color: Dark brown Eye color: Hazel green.
Distinguishing marks: Missing her left eye. Tends to wear various bejeweled or otherwise intricately tooled eyepatches to cover it.
Appearance: Coral is a beautiful woman. The centuries have left her mostly unmarked, appearing in many ways younger even than her sons. Her hair is thick and full, a dark brown hinting at black, her eyes are also as dark as green can go and still hold hints of jade. She is tall and lithe and athletic, carrying herself with both grace and majesty, and she can command a room simply by shifting position. Nonetheless, she is a woman who has lost much, and the tension of those losses is etched deeply into her posture and her facial expressions.
Colors: Green and gold and white.
Symbol: A unicorn bearing a crown of snakes.
Personality: Coral is a down to earth, practical and generally honest woman. She is true to herself first and foremost, and her loved ones after, and she would sell anyone down the river if it meant achieving her final goals, but she is open with her advice, with information and with help should her help be in demand and fit in well with what she wants. She is hard, and old, and powerful, and she has such complex relationships with her closest kin that she chooses to remain away from them all, but her determination knows no bounds. If she were to decide she wanted to rekindle any of those relationships, it would be hard to bet against her.
Parentage: Oberon, King of Amber and Kinta of Begma.
Age: Unknown. Perhaps a little over five thousand years.
Known siblings: Osric (deceased), Finndo (deceased), Benedict (deceased), Eric (deceased), Corwin (deceased), Caine (deceased), Deirdre (deceased), Fiona (deceased), Bleys (deceased), Brand (deceased), Florimel (deceased), Delwin (deceased), Sand (deceased), Julian (deceased), Gerard, Random, Dalt (deceased) and perhaps numerous others.
Known children: Arayen (with Merlin) and Leonard (with Sethry).
Known agents: No one of name and note, though she is currently in Shadow raising an army with the intent to take over Amber.
Coral as Parent: Coral raised Arayen, and she was a good, loving, though very realistic mother to him. She instilled in him a fondness for virtue, for order, for balance and for strength, and she made sure that he knew everything that he needed to know to survive. She also, though she would never admit it, is responsible for his ruthlessness and his ability to sacrifice even those he cares most for if he believes it is for the greater good. Children of Coral raised by her would experience much the same from their mother. Younger children, who either were children during her imprisonment or who are Sethry's, like Leonard was, could have experienced any sort of childhood, since Coral was not present to influence it (or in the case of Sethry's children, unwilling to live in Arcadia and thus unable to interfere). Player characters who wish to be children of Coral should speak to me, since it is highly unlikely.
Coral as Employer: Coral is fair-minded, intelligent and open with her thoughts. She is a great tactician and a skilled commander, more interested in keeping her subjects alive than in what their sacrifice might buy her, though she is willing to sacrifice anyone and anything if it furthers her final goals. She tends to do best at working with people over a short period of time, charming them and getting them to do a few things for her, before she cuts ties and moves on to the next person. This way, she doesn't get too attached and they don't have a chance to either betray or disappoint her.
Coral as Friend: She is an exceptionally good friend, better really at being a friend than she is at being a relative, though she will always and unapologetically put her own needs first, fully expecting that her friends will do likewise. She is intelligent, charming, exceptionally experienced and interested in practically everything. She also genuinely likes people and their company, and is an unrepentant adventurer and flirt. So long as it doesn't get in the way of anything she wants, she would go to the ends of the earth for her friends.
Coral Romantically: The only person that Coral has ever valued above herself was also the only man she ever loved, Merlin, despite the fact that she'd used him to gain access to the Pattern and been practically forced into a physical relationship with him by the will of said Power. Generally, she uses romance, flirtation and sex as weapons in her formidable arsenal, since she grew up a princess in a country that considered marriages of state to be more worthwhile than love matches. She has absolutely no taboo concerning incest, since she has been married now to two first cousins and one nephew. At the moment, she is more interested in power to be gained through romance than in anything remotely akin to love.
