Velucide
So many speak of what was lost in the Thousand Year War. So many speak of realms that are now nothing more than dreams, or in hushed whispers of the lives that were sacrificed, the lives lost and broken. But I say to you, dear child, you who witness only the devastated remnants of a once-proud lineage, we have lost much more than people or buildings or even kingdoms. We have lost our glamour, lost our dreams, lost our sense of hope. We stumble blindly through a swirl of confused thoughts, form up sand castles and call them skyscrapers. We have lost ourselves. Unlike the so called Council of Arcadia, unlike King Sethry and Prince Gerard, I wish to do more than scrabble for a piece of a rotting pie. I want to give us back our dreams and in so doing ensure that what happened to us never has to happen to you. Join me beneath the waves. Look upon your future and weep with me, and then come and see us set it right.
Name: Velucide
Titles: Queen of Atlantis (former), Princess of Rebma (former), the Siren Serpent
Rules: Unknown.
Height: 5'11" Weight: 165 lbs
Hair color: Green Eye color: Green
Distinguishing marks: Green hair.
Appearance: Sultry and striking, Velucide makes the most of her curvaceous form, her full pouty lips and the directness of large eyes exactly the same shade of jade green as her wavy shoulder-length hair. Few would argue that she is a devastatingly attractive woman, and her casual confidence and sinuous grace couple with what seems a supernatural charm to aid her in captivating her chosen audience at any given time. In dress, she favors clinging fabrics, bright colors, metallic accents and patterns which resemble scales. The more dramatic, the better.
Colors: Silver and green.
Symbol: A sea serpent.
Personality: Almost all that can be gleaned is hearsay, but Velucide was said to be an intelligent and adept student of human nature, someone who could flip between most loyal friend and master manipulator in an eyeblink. Her rule in Atlantis (and Velucide, who drew the Pattern there in the first place, was the only Queen that Atlantis ever knew) is characterized as a time of great prosperity, a cultural and artistic Renaissance, and the happiness of an overwhelmingly loyal, though small, populace. Velucide was an idealist, but she was also a strong administrator and a venomous enemy, and those who fought against her in the long war caution that all previous experience suggests that those who have drawn Patterns and then seen them damaged or destroyed spiral into insanity.
Parentage: Llewella and Despil Sawall.
Age: Unknown. She is a little younger than Arayen, so in the four thousand year range.
Known siblings: None.
Known children: None.
Known agents: Unknown. As yet, Velucide has only been spied in the Hall of Mirrors, and then she is always alone. Those who know her might infer based on her history prior to her incarceration that she would choose agents from underwater Shadows, and her preference tends to be to shore up those areas in which she has shown weakness, which would be physical combat prowess and espionage.
Velucide as Parent: Truly, she is a wonderful mother. She is generous, caring, fun to be around, considerate of her children's desires and choices and able to vary her approach to suit the needs of any particular child. She would be likely to come close to spoiling a child, but she would give her the most complete education imaginable (though perhaps skewing slightly to the arcane), and always let her know that she was loved, trusted and valued. Negatives of her parentage include her manipulative nature and her tendency to focus hard on a child's strengths and nearly force him to achieve his 'greatest' potential.'
Velucide as Employer: When it comes to Velucide and relationships that involve hierarchy, everything becomes somewhat sexualized. She has romantic relationships with the vast majority of her closest and dearest bodyguards, soldiers and employees. On the other hand, she is very demanding, needing absolute loyalty and jealous of anyone who might seem likely to undermine another's trust. She can hide this and she will rarely act on it, but one can feel the strings, no matter how far one departs from Velucide.
Velucide as Friend: She seems to be among the best, the most caring, considerate and generous friends imaginable. She is loving, funny, witty, open, up for just about anything, and there for you any time you call her. Only a hint remains: a rumor that perhaps, if the chips are down, if the world falls apart, she will not die for you, will not take pain for you. She will choose herself. No one has ever explicitly stated this, it's only a feeling. Only a bitterness in the eyes of a few from the past who claim to "have been her friend."
Velucide Romantically: The two words that best describe Velucide's approach to romance are feminine and aggressive. She goes right for what she wants with a sensuality that can be either welcome or slightly off-putting. She is a deeply physical person who is quite comfortable with her own body and its methods of expression, but her general style is casual. She has been in love before, and in love she is much more shy, cautious and slow-moving, but it has been a long time since she has felt a stirring which is not purely sexual.
