Eris Echidna
May I tell you the secret to survival? No one has the right to anything. No one has a guarantee of anything. No one will be given anything without a price to be paid, perhaps later, but paid nonetheless. What exists, the only thing which is worth anything, is power. I have great power. Will you let me show you? Will you let me teach you? Remember, there will be a price...
Name: Eris
Titles: Lady of Arcadia, Witch-Queen of Draconis, Eris Echidna, Mistress of the Undying Flame.
Rules: Draconis.
Height: 5'2". Weight: 103 lbs.
Hair color: Black. Eye color: One dark brown, one dark blue.
Distinguishing marks: Mismatched eyes.
Appearance: A lovely woman, petite and busty, with long hair always styled elaborately and a taste for magnificent costumes, often in gold or bejeweled gorgeously, the Witch-Queen Eris was most known for her mismatched eyes, one of darkest brown, almost black, the other blue as sapphires. It was thought for a long while she could not see out of the blue one, but the truth is that what she saw from it was simply different from the world others saw.
Colors: Gold, orange and purple.
Symbol: A dragon, gold, belching forth orange flame on a purple field.
Personality: What motivated Eris was power and ambition, nothing more and nothing less. She would do anything to further her own means, and any step she took or thing she did had a meaning in the greater game. She was intelligent, versatile, ruthless and charismatic. She was also a good enough player to admit when she knew that she had lost, although often she would attempt this early to lull an enemy into a false sense of security.
Parentage: Unknown. Of the line of Fiona.
Age: Unknown. She was thought to be around four thousand, though later estimates from her peers place her much younger, only a little older than Leonard.
Known siblings: None.
Known children: None.
Known agents: Her right hand man is called Northcourt and is a thug but an exceptionally talented one. She had, however, many agents across Arcadia, all furthering her aims, and none too squeamish to kill, maim or torture in the name of Eris' ambition.
Eris as Parent: Eris was a user. What good are you to me? She was also the queen of the guilt trip. She raised her children to be agents of war, not complete human beings. She may not ever have seen them as children, but tiny little machines. She determined early on what she felt they were capable of and sought to use them to that purpose. If they proved unable or unwilling to further her ambitions, she cut them loose, often times severing all ties and refusing to acknowledge them at any point in the future.
Eris as Employer: Eris, as perhaps the most ambitious and ruthless of the Council, had multitudinous and variegated agents, all of whom were ruthless and cold as she, at least politically. She would further whatever she considered to be her aim, at whatever cost to others, and those she employed would help her in her quest. As an employer, she paid well, perhaps the best of anyone, but she demanded complete loyalty and assassinated any of her agents she suspected of double-crossing her. If a person would not lie, cheat, steal, murder, torture, and screw for her, they were not loyal enough for Eris. And no one who worked for her saw anything but her professional, cold, unequivocal side.
Eris as Friend: There weren't many. Eris saw friendship as weakness and compassion as a walking invitation to pain. She had been hurt in the past, that was obvious. As a result, she didn't open for almost anyone. Even when she did, it was clear that her obsession with power and gain was not simply a defense mechanism. She really and truly believed in it. She seemed to like Leonard and the Jester, and to have an interest in Elfwin and Valkyrie Christian, but she had never shown any extreme closeness to anyone, even Northcourt. Her hatred and rivalry with Arayen was well known, for it is believed her agents murdered his wife, Prima, and in retaliation he killed perhaps two hundred of her servants.
Eris Romantically: Eris was drawn to men who were mysteries. She liked them when they showed as little of themselves as possible. When it was available, she preferred men who were sexually dominant and who could overpower her, at least in some way. As a Council member, a powerful sorceress and a powerful fighter, Eris found these men difficult to come by, and as such, had few romantic liaisons.
